Mothers Day

Many moms feel they should be the recipient of a card, or gift - or just plain recognition for themselves as THE MOTHER on Mothers' Day. ....other moms feel it is a wonderful idea to acknowledge their daughters or daughters-in-law. This discussion got somewhat heated at a recent talk I gave at Boca Point Country Club. Some of the moms felt that they had always honored their mothers or mothers-in-law and now it was their turn to be honored and woe to the kids that didn't send them a card, flowers, etc.

One wise woman - a mother of five - got up and said mothers shouldn't be so hung up on getting gifts from their kids. "It's not always about you,'' she said. Acklowledgement works both ways - it's nice to give - and it's nice to get. So there.
